Nothing to Something: A World Series to Remember
By: Santino Ammirabile.
This World Series was the most memorable in baseball history. This World Series was between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Brewers have not been in the World Series since 1982 as an American League team. The Rays have not been in since 2020. Neither of these teams has won a World Series. The Brewers beat the Padres four games out of five after a bye into the NLDS. They then faced the back-to-back champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was an unbelievable series because the Brewers swept the Dodgers in four games.
On the American League side, the Tampa Bay Rays are in it. They swept the New York Yankees three games out of five in the ALDS after they received a bye also. They then played the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS. The Rays beat them in five games out of seven in a battling series. In Games 1 and 2, the World Series was held in Milwaukee at Great American Family Field. The pitching matchup was Nick Martinez for the Rays against Jacob Misiorowski for the Brewers. The Brewers took Game 1: 3-2. In Game 2, the pitching matchup was Logan Henderson for the Milwaukee Brewers against Drew Rasmussen for the Tampa Bay Rays. This was another back-and-forth game, but once again the Brewers won, taking it 5-4. For the guaranteed next two games and possibly three, the World Series will be held at Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay. Game 3 matchup was Freddy Peralta for the Tampa Bay Rays against Robert Gasser for the Milwaukee Brewers. This game was a blowout. The Brewers destroyed the Rays, 10-1.
In Game 4, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Dustin May faced Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Griffin Jax. In this game, the Rays beat the Brewers 4-3. In Game 5, right-hander Jacob Misiorowski for the Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Drew Rasmussen for the Tampa Bay Rays. This game ended the World Series, and the Brewers defeated the Rays 4-1. This clinched the Brewers their very first World Series.
